The sea wall. Time to dwell

Okinawa Japan has a few sea walls. But the one I’m talking about is in Sunabe, Chatan-Cho A.K.A home sweet home. Being back in the states really has me feeling lost and out of place. I’m craving the sea wall. The beautiful ocean crashing against the only small blockade from the town.

People often go the the sea wall to go dive, her a run in, hang out, dates, eat, play with the stay cats, or maybe just because they were just eating at one of the many restaurants and cafes in the area. But I, I like to go there and think. Just siting in the wall. Staring at the ocean. You can’t see any other mass of land. Just there. Letting all your thoughts just flow out and be in the moment with yourself. Tuning everyone else out. I’m not the only one that goes there just for that.

Sea wall after a typhoon

The sound of the ocean crashing on to the wall, the rocks, itself. It’s the perfect place to meditate. I always wanted to try SUP yoga. But I never did get a SUP board. The best time to go see the ocean is right after a typhoon. The water is so rowdy and mischievous. It’s perfect for a good laugh. Though you might look crazy just staring at the ocean and laughing. But the local okinawan’s try to surf soon after. They don’t get to many good waves but they try as hard as they can. It’s fun to go see all the activity’s after a typhoon.

After typhoon activity’s. The community really gets together in Okinawa. After anything remotely devastating everyone pulls together and they get stuff done. First there is typically some type of damage assessment. Then the electric crew goes out and works tirelessly on getting the island power back up. Often time there is some type of organized clean up. And they also have unorganized clean up. Most people still even work during minor typhoons and tropical

I wish I could go back to think. To think with a clearer head and be more at peace. No one judges you on the sea wall.
